Chelsea manager Graham Potter has insisted he still has the support of players amid the slump in form and their 4-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City in the FA Cup.

Graham Potter, who Chelsea appointed as their manager in September 2022 after parting ways with Thomas Tuchel, enjoyed a rather impressive start to his tenure at the west London outfit. Chelsea remained undefeated in the first nine games they played since Graham Potter took charge of the club.

However, they have suffered six defeats in the nine games they have since played, which started with a 4-1 defeat to Graham Potter’s former side Brighton & Hove Albion. Chelsea now languish at 10th in the Premier League points table and they are as closer to the relegation zone as they are to the top four.

The Blues have also been knocked out of the EFL Cup and FA Cup by Manchester City. Chelsea slumped to a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in the EFL Cup third round. The defeat in the FA Cup was heavier as Man City romped to a 4-0 win.

Speaking after the defeat to Manchester City in which Chelsea delivered an underwhelming and disappointing performance, Graham Potter insisted he still has the support of the dressing room.

He also said Manchester City are the worst opponents to play against when things are not going very well for you. The Chelsea manager also dismissed suggestions that Chelsea are not trying.

Man City is probably the worst opponent you can play when things aren’t going very well because they can make you look like you’re not running or you’re not trying because their positional structure is brilliant,” Graham Potter said.

They use the full width of the pitch and they keep the ball and that makes it difficult to put any pressure on them.

I’m working with the players and I don’t get any sense of any people with poor attitudes. Everyone wants to try and do better and there is support in the dressing room.
