Inter Miami CF manager Phil Neville has admitted that any deal to bring Lionel Messi to the MLS side will be ‘complicated’.
Inter Miami has long been linked with a move for Lionel Messi – widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time – at some point before he hangs up his boots.
The Argentine superstar currently plays for Paris Saint-Germain with whom he has a contract that runs until the end of June 2023. But there is an option to extend his contract with the club by another year, and Lionel Messi and PSG have reportedly reached an agreement in principle to renew his contract with the Ligue 1 side until 2024.
Even if Lionel Messi extends his stay at Paris Saint-Germain until 2024, Inter Miami are expected to still be interested in the services of the Argentine when he becomes available.

Inter Miami manager Phil Neville addresses Lionel Messi transfer rumours

Speaking to the media, Inter Miami manager Phil Neville admitted that any deal to sign Lionel Messi will be ‘complicated’.
However, Phil Neville also stressed they are always working to bring the best players to Inter Miami and that Messi is one of the best players.
“For us, the landscape’s not changed at all. With any deal for any DP of the level you’re talking about is complicated, it takes time. Rest assured we’re working every second of every day to bring in the best players, and I think he’s one of the best,” Phil Neville said.
Messi has been impressive for Paris Saint-Germain in the 22/23 season. The Argentine superstar had endured a rather underwhelming first season with PSG in 21/22 after his move to the French outfit in the summer of 2021.
However, Lionel Messi has looked back to his best in 22/23. He has already racked up 12 goals and 14 assists for PSG in 19 appearances in the 22/23 season. He also starred for Argentina at FIFA World Cup 2022 as the South American heavyweights clinched the coveted title.
Lionel Messi scored seven goals for Argentina at Qatar 2022 – including a brace in the final against France – as the South American nation lifted the FIFA World Cup title for the third time in its history.
For his performances for Argentina at Qatar 2022, Lionel Messi also won the Golden Ball award.
