Former defender Jamie Carragher has urged Liverpool fans to keep faith in striker Darwin Nunez. The Uruguay striker has enjoyed a mixed start at Anfield following his big-money move from Benfica at the start of the current season.
He has played 19 games (in all competitions) for the Reds so far, registering nine goals and three assists. Darwin Nunez received a three games ban earlier this season after he headbutted Joachim Andersen during a Premier League game in August.
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has asked the fans to keep faith in striker Darwin Nunez. Speaking on Sky Sports, he said(via Sportskeeda): “He is a rough diamond. He will never have a quiet game, he will either score or will show a series of missed chances.”
“Darwin Nunez is not the most technical in terms of finishing. He tries to burst the net but there is definitely something to work with you wouldn’t want to play against him with that pace.”

Darwin Nunez missed several big chances as Liverpool endured a 3-2 defeat against Manchester City in the round-of-16 tie of the EFL Cup on Friday.
Erling Haaland, Riyad Maherz, and Nathan Ake were among the goal for Pep Guardiola’s side, while Fabio Carvalho and Mohamed Salah were on the scoresheet for the Reds.
Despite his dismal finishing, Darwin Nunez caught attention with his work rate and movement during the game. The 23-year-old attacker also claimed an assist by creating Liverpool’s second goal for Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool eyeing Ismael Bennacer
The Reds are interested in signing AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer. According to Fabrizio Romano, Jurgen Klopp is a huge admirer of the Algeria international and could make an approach to sign him during the summer window.
Bennacer has established himself among the best midfielders in Serie A since joining the Rossoneri from Empoli during the summer transfer window of 2019. He has played 126 games(in all competitions) for the Milan outfit so far, registering four goals and eight assists. The Algeria international helped AC Milan win the Seria A title last season.

However, his current contract at San Siro is set to expire at the end of the next season. AC Milan are keen to offer him a new deal but have failed to reach to an agreement with him so far. The Serie A outfit could be forced to sell him next summer.
