It looks like Real Madrid are preparing for a big summer transfer in 2023. On the face of it, it looks like they are targeting young players. In other words, they are looking for mini galacticos.
So far they have been linked with the likes of Jude Bellingham and Josko Gvardiol. But now another top Serie A player has been offered to them. According to Gazzetta Dello Sports (Via Goal), Jorge Mendes has offered Real Madrid, Rafael Leao.
The Portuguese international currently plays for AC Milan in Serie A. Last season he was very influential in helping them win the Serie A title. He is valued at around €100 million as well.
The Rossoneri could be tempted into selling him in the coming summer. Leao’s contract expires in 2024 and now he has just 18 months left on his current deal. A big offer might tempt AC Milan.
A move to Real Madrid for Rafael Leao?
The former Sporting CP winger primarily plays on the left wing. Presently Los Blancos have Vinicius Junior in that position. The Brazilian has been constantly season after season improving himself. Now just at the age of 22, he is a regular for the Brazilian national team and for Real Madrid.
He was also a part of the side that won the Champions League and La Liga last season. Not only this he played a crucial role in helping Los Blancos win those trophies. Also, he is just 22 years old and he has a long and big future ahead of him.
Thus it is unlikely that Real Madrid will make a move for the Portuguese. With the rise of Vinicius, they would not want Leao to challenge him for the left-wing position. Also, Los Blancos don’t have the finances to sign the former Lille winger.
Although Jorge Mendes wants the deal to happen but Los Blancos are unwilling to spend such an amount. For the left flank, they already have Rodrgyo who has impressed many times. The Brazilian is also capable of playing on the left side.
Any other attackers for Real Madrid?
There is no question that Los Blancos are in need of attacking reinforcements. Karim Benzema is in his late thirties. While Eden Hazard, Mariano Diaz, and Marco Asensio have failed to impress. There is a need for new attackers for the upcoming summer transfer window.
Their lack of depth in attack also reflects their position in the La Liga table. Currently, Los Blancos are nine points behind Barcelona. It is likely that new attackers will arrive this summer. However, it is unlikely that the likes of Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland could be seen wearing the famous white jersey.
Juventus striker Dušan Vlahović and Napoli forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia have been linked with a move. While Serge Gnabry was the latest forward linked to the Spanish giants. Another option could be Napoli’s star striker Victor Osimhen.
However, despite these options, Los Blancos will have to be economical. All these players will be expensive. Academy graduate Alvaro Silva has been impressive in his cameos but it is too early to predict whether he can break into the first team or not next season.
