Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain and Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas, according to a report in The Athletic.

Dean Henderson, who plays for Nottingham Forest on loan from Manchester United, suffered a thigh injury during Forest’s 2-0 win over Leicester City in the Premier League last week.

Dean Henderson is now facing a spell on the sidelines, with the 25-year-old English goalkeeper likely to be out of action for weeks. The Athletic report that Nottingham Forest are considering a move for Keylor Navas given the injury Dean Henderson has suffered.

Nottingham Forest have included Keylor Navas on their list of options, the English outlet adds.

Keylor Navas has fallen down the pecking order at Paris Saint-Germain. The Costa Rican goalkeeper has only featured in one game for PSG so far in the 22/23 season.

The 36-year-old goalkeeper’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain runs until 2024. That means Keylor Navas still has more than one year left on his current deal with the French heavyweights.

The Athletic report that Navas is open to a move away from Paris Saint-Germain in search of more regular first-team football.

Nottingham Forest, however, are not the only side linked with a move for Keylor Navas. Bournemouth have also been linked with interest in the services of the former Real Madrid goalkeeper.

Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Nassr are also reportedly interested in signing Keylor Navas. Al-Nassr manager Rudi Garcia has reportedly requested the club to sign a goalkeeper after David Ospina suffered an injury.

If Al-Nassr signs Navas, the Costa Rican will be reunited with his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo at the Saudi Arabian club.

Cristiano Ronaldo has joined Al-Nassr on a two-and-a-half-year contract that makes him the highest paid player in the world. Ronaldo and Navas were teammates at Real Madrid for four seasons between 2014 and 2018.

Meanwhile, Navas featured for Paris Saint-Germain against Riyadh All-Star XI, which comprises of players from Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal, in the Riyadh Season Cup. The Costa Rican shot-stopper started for PSG, but conceded three goals during his 62 minutes on the pitch.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored two of those goals. Ronaldo scored his first goal from the spot, converting a penalty awarded to Riyadh All-Star XI after Keylor Navas inadvertently punched CR7 in the face.
