Konrad Laimer to Join Bayern Munich on Free Transfer After Expiry of His RB Leipzig Contract
Fabrizio Romano reports that Konrad Laimer would join Bayern Munich on a free transfer in 2023. He has also attracted transfer interest from English clubs, but Fabrizio Romano reports that he is set to join the defending Bundesliga champions.
However, Konrad Laimer has not reached an agreement with Bayern Munich over a free transfer just yet. Fabrizio Romano reports that Laimer and Bayern Munich are in the final stages of verbal negotiations.
Laimer is yet to put pen to paper on a new contract with Bayern Munich. The 25-year-old midfielder had accepted to stay at RB Leipzig last summer, but it looks like his stay at Die Roten Bullen won’t extend beyond the expiry of his current contract.
Laimer has missed the majority of the first half of the 22/23 season due to injury. The Austrian midfielder has only featured in six games for RB Leipzig so far in the 22/23 season.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich are sitting atop the Bundesliga points table in the 22/23 season. Having played 15 matches in the German top flight in the 22/23 season, Bayern Munich occupies the first position with 34 points.
RB Leipzig, the team Laimer currently plays for, sits third in the Bundesliga points table. They have 28 points from 15 matches and are six points short of Bayern Munich in the points table.
