Kylian Mbappe has said that his Paris Saint-Germain future is not tied to their success in the Champions League and insisted that is happy at the French outfit.
Kylian Mbappe was speaking after Paris Saint-Germain cruised to a 4-2 win over Nantes in Ligue 1. He scored PSG’s fourth goal of the match and, in the process, became the club’s all-time top goalscorer.
Paris Saint-Germain takes on Bayern Munich in the Champions League round of the 16 second leg in their next game. PSG slumped to a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in the first leg and will have to turn the tie around in the second leg if they are to progress to the next stage of Champions League 22/23.
However, Kylian Mbappe stressed that his future at Paris Saint-Germain is not tied to how they perform in the Champions League. He also suggested he would have already left PSG had his future at the club been tied to their performance in Europe’s premier club football competition.

“I don’t think so,” Kylian Mbappe said [via Canal Supporters]. “If I had tied my future to the Champions League – and with no disrespect to PSG – I would have gone very far. I’m very happy here and can’t think of anything other than enjoying PSG’s heyday.”
Kylian Mbappe also said he is already focused on PSG’s upcoming Champions League match against Bayern Munich. PSG go into Allianz Arena for the second leg with a clear objective, Mbappe said.
“I’m already focused on Wednesday’s game,” Kylian Mbappe said. “I enjoyed with the public; it was really special. I thank all the people who stayed and applauded. But we must quickly move on. There is a big meeting waiting for us on Wednesday. We go there with a clear objective.”
PSG have a squad capable of defeating Bayern Munich and sealing their place in the quarter final of Champions League.
But they will be without Neymar Jr, who has been out of action after suffering an ankle injury in February. Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier has already ruled Neymar out of the match against Bayern Munich.
The Champions League round of 16 second leg match between PSG and Bayern Munich will kick-off at 1:30am Indian Standard Time on March 9.
