Liverpool ran riot against their fierce rivals Manchester United at Anfield as the Merseyside outfit romped their way to a stunning 7-0 win over the Red Devils in the Premier League.

Manchester United had come into the game against Liverpool on the back of four consecutive wins. But that did not count for anything at Anfield as Liverpool ruthlessly ripped Manchester United apart.

Liverpool scored their opening goal of the match only in the 43rd minute through Cody Gakpo, who had been linked with a move to Manchester United before eventually signing for the Merseyside outfit in the January transfer window.

The game until then had been evenly contested, and not many would have predicted Manchester United would be routed by the end of the match. But it was exactly what happened.

In a disastrous start to their second half, Manchester United conceded their second goal of the match in the 47th minute, Darwin Nunez scoring for Liverpool. Cody Gakpo then scored his second of the match in the 50th minute to send his side three goals up.

Mohamed Salah then scored with a thunderous strike in the 66th minute to help Liverpool establish a four-goal cushion. Liverpool, however, did not stop there as Darwin Nunez made it 5-0 in the 75th minute.

But Liverpool were not done yet. Mohamed Salah bagged his second of the match in the 83rd minute as Liverpool completely ripped apart Man Utd. Roberto Firmino, who is set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, completed their rout of the Red Devils in the 88th minute, scoring the Reds’ seventh goal of the match.

The defeat has dealt a heavy blow to Manchester United’s slim hopes of winning the Premier League 22/23 title. Manchester United now finds themselves 14 points behind table-toppers Arsenal. However, the Red Devils could reduce the gap on the Gunners to 11 points if they win the game they have in hand.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s push for a top-four finish has been bolstered by their defeat of Manchester United. Jurgen Klopp and co. now sit fifth in the points table, with 42 points from 25 matches. They are only three points short of fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, who have played 26 matches.
