Manchester City are still waiting for midfielder Ilkay Gundogan to decide with regards to his future at the club, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Ilkay Gundogan has been playing for Manchester City ever since he joined the English outfit from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in 2016. But the 32-year-old midfielder’s current contract with Manchester City is set to expire in June.
As things stand, he will become a free agent once his contract with Manchester City expires later this year. And, he has been linked with a move away from Manchester City after the end of the current campaign.
La Liga side FC Barcelona are reportedly interested in acquiring the services of Ilkay Gundogan on a free transfer. Barcelona are reportedly ready to offer a two-year contract to the experienced midfielder.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City are waiting for Ilkay Gundogan to decide on his future at the club. The midfielder is taking time to take a decision as a new contract at the Premier League side would mean he would probably finish his career there.
Manchester City are reportedly willing to offer Ilkay Gundogan a short-term contract extension that would extend his stay at the club well beyond the end of the 22/23 campaign.
Fabrizio Romano also reports that Barcelona are interested in signing Ilkay Gundogan on a free transfer, and there is one more club keen on acquiring his services. He adds it will be up to Gundogan to decide whether he wants to stay at Manchester City or not.
Since joining Manchester City in 2016, Ilkay Gundogan has appeared in 290 games across all competitions for the defending Premier League champions. He has also racked up an impressive tally of 53 goals for Manchester City.
Gundogan has made 37 appearances across all competitions for Manchester City so far in the current campaign. He has amassed four goals and four assists each for the English side this season.
Meanwhile, Gundogan has won the Premier League title four times with Manchester City. He has also won the EFL Cup four times, FA Community Shield twice, and FA Cup once with Manchester City.
It remains to be seen what decision Ilkay Gundogan will take with regards to his future.
