Manchester United Planning to Step Up Contract Renewal Talks With Marcus Rashford

Manchester United are planning to step up talks with Marcus Rashford over a contract renewal before the end of the current season, according to a report in ESPN.

Marcus Rashford’s current contract with Manchester United runs until 2024. That is after the Red Devils triggered a one-year extension option in his contract in December last year.

But the England international will enter the final year of his contract next year, and the Old Trafford outfit are keen to agree on a long-term deal with the attacker. Marcus Rashford has been impressive for Manchester United in the 22/23 campaign and is enjoying the best goalscoring season of his career so far.

The 25-year-old has established himself as a key player for Manchester United under Erik ten Hag. He has been a regular starter for the Red Devils in the current campaign and has appeared in 44 games across all competitions for the club this season.

ESPN report that Marcus Rashford is focused on having a successful end to the ongoing 22/23 campaign, but his representatives expect to make a step forward in negotiations with Manchester United over a new contract before the end of the season

The report also states that Manchester United would like to reach an agreement with Marcus Rashford over a new contract by the end of the year and ideally by the start of the next season.

According to The Athletic, Marcus Rashford reportedly turned down a lucrative contract offer from Paris Saint-Germain last summer. He had endured a disappointing 21/22 campaign, and at that time, his contract with Manchester United was due to expire in 2023.

ESPN also reports Marcus Rashford is expected to stay at Manchester United, and that he remains a key part of Erik ten Hag’s plans despite their search for a new striker in the summer transfer window of 2023.

Rashford has racked up 27 goals across all competitions for Manchester United so far this season. He has also provided nine assists at Manchester United this season.

Manchester United have already won the EFL Cup title, and they remain in contention for the FA Cup and Europa League titles this season. In Premier League, Manchester United sit third, but trails table-toppers Arsenal by 19 points although they have two games in hand over the Gunners.
