Robin van Persie has lavished praise on Manchester United star Marcus Rashford and says the England international is on a mission at the Old Trafford outfit.
Marcus Rashford has been outstanding for Manchester United in the ongoing 22/23 campaign. The English attacker has established himself as a key player at Manchester United under Erik ten Hag and is a regular starter for the Red Devils.
The 25-year-old has already appeared in 44 games across all competitions for Manchester United so far this season. He has racked up an impressive tally of 27 goals and nine assists in those matches.
14 of those goals have come in the Premier League, where Manchester United sits in third. He has also scored six goals each in the Europa League and EFL Cup. Manchester United have already won the EFL Cup title and they remain in contention for the Europa League title. Marcus Rashford has also scored a goal in the FA 22/23 campaign for Manchester United.
Speaking to Manchester United’s official website, Robin van Persie, who is a former player of the club, said: “Yeah, you can see he’s having maybe the best form of his life.
“He looks to have fun. He’s on a mission now. Everyone knew from an early age because he broke through from a very early age, everyone knew how good of a player he was – and still is of course – but now you see that everything clicks, and that is partly down to him, but as well a coach, and, as well, your team-mates.”
Robin van Persie also said Marcus Rashford has a unique connection with his teammate Bruno Fernandes at Manchester United. Like Rashford, Fernandes has also been a key player for the Red Devils in the current campaign.
Robin van Persie said: “If you look at the connection he has with Fernandes for example, that is something unique. You only have that connection with a few players throughout your career. And he has that now. He is like going from strength to strength.”
Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford was named in the England squad for their upcoming UEFA EURO Qualifiers matches during the March international break. However, he was forced to withdraw from the squad after he sustained a knock during Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Fulham in the FA Cup.
Manchester United will resume their campaign after the March international break with a match against Newcastle United in the Premier League.
