Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed they want to complete their January signings as soon as possible.
The north London outfit head into the January transfer window as the Premier League table-toppers. Arsenal have 37 points from 14 matches in the English top-flight so far in the 22/23 season and they enjoy a five-point lead over Manchester City, who sit second in the table and are the defending champions.
But Arsenal will be without Gabriel Jesus for weeks following the injury the Brazilian sustained during FIFA World Cup 2022 and the subsequent surgery that he underwent. He suffered an injury while playing for Brazil against Cameroon in FIFA World Cup 2022 Group G fixture and has since undergone surgery on his right knee.
He is expected to be out of action for some time, and that means Arsenal may look to sign a new striker in the January transfer window.
Arsenal wants to complete January signings as soon as possible, reveals Mikel Arteta

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s first Premier League match after the winter break, Mikel Arteta revealed they want to complete their signings in the January transfer window as soon as possible.
He also insisted he can guarantee they can sign a striker in the January transfer window. But Mikel Arteta also stressed they cannot afford to sign a striker that does not suit them.
“We knew the importance of getting players early in the summer and that is the same we want to do in January,” Mikel Arteta said. “This is idealistic. Sometimes it is not realistic. But obviously, if you ask my opinion, as quick as possible we want the players in to get settled.“
Mikel Arteta added: “Can we afford not getting the player that we want? That is my question. We can afford to get a striker for sure if we want one, I don’t know if he plays in League Two, League Five, in Spain, Portugal, or Africa.
“We can get a striker I can guarantee you that. But what we can not afford to do is get a player here that is not for us. This is what we can not afford, that is for sure.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal signed Gabriel Jesus in the summer transfer window of 2022. The Gunners landed the Brazilian international from Premier League rivals Manchester City.
Since signing for Arsenal, Gabriel Jesus has featured in 20 games for the Gunners and has largely been impressive for them.
