Presnel Kimpembe Paris Saint-Germain defender has said that he was not made aware of the decision to make Kylian Mbappe the vice-captain of the club.
Kylian Mbappe captained Paris Saint-Germain in their 7-0 win over Pays de Cassel in the French Cup. It was initially thought Kylian Mbappe captained the French outfit in the absence of Marquinhos – the club captain – and Presnel Kimpembe and Marco Verratti, who usually captain PSG in the absence of the Brazilian.
However, speaking after the match, PSG manager Christophe Galtier confirmed that Kylian Mbappe has been their vice-captain since the summer. He said they took that decision in the summer and that Kylian Mbappe deserves to have the armband in the absence of Marquinhos.
“We decided at the start of the season that Kylian Mbappé should be the second captain. He deserves to have this armband when Marquinhos is absent,” Christophe Galtier said.

‘I was not made aware’ – Presnel Kimpembe reacts to Kylian Mbappe PSG vice-captain decision

Presnel Kimpembe took to Instagram to reveal that he was not made aware of the decision to name Kylian Mbappe as the club’s vice-captain.
However, Presnel Kimpembe also stressed he will always respect the decision of the club.
“In the last few hours I have been able to hear and read a lot about myself,” Presnel Kimpembe wrote on Instagram. “I therefore wish to make things clear in order to avoid continuing to spread false information in this regard. I was not made aware of this decision, this is completely false… That said, I will always respect the decisions of the club.“
Meanwhile, Presnel Kimpembe is currently out of action, with the defender recovering from an achilles tendon injury.
Injuries have limited his appearances for Paris Saint-Germain in the ongoing 22/23 campaign. The Frenchman has featured in only 11 games for PSG so far this season.
Meanwhile, PSG, who sit atop the Ligue 1 points table with 47 points from 19 matches, will face Reims in the French top-flight in their next match. PSG have a three-point lead at the top, and they will be aiming to maintain that when they take on Reims.
Reims, meanwhile, sit 11th in the Ligue 1 points table. The match between Paris Saint-Germain and Reims will kick-off at 1:15am Indian Standard Time on January 30.
