Roberto De Zerbi, manager of Brighton & Hove Albion, has urged Moises Caicedo to stay at the club after Arsenal submitted a bid of £60m for the highly-rated Ecuadorian midfielder.
Moises Caicedo has attracted transfer interest from both Chelsea and Arsenal as the two sides look to reinforce their midfield department before the January transfer window closes.
Chelsea, who have been very active in the January transfer window, submitted a bid of £55m for the 21-year-old Moises Caicedo. Brighton & Hove Albion, however, rejected Chelsea’s bid as they wanted to keep hold of the midfielder beyond the January transfer window.
Arsenal then submitted a bid for Moises Caicedo, which was £5m higher than Chelsea’s bid for the same player. Brighton, however, chose to reject the bid for Caicedo.

Moises Caicedo urged by Roberto De Zerbi to stay at Brighton & Hove Albion amid club record bid

After reports of Arsenal tabling a bid for Moises Caicedo, Brighton & Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi has urged the midfielder to stay at the club until the end of the season.
Roberto De Zerbi also revealed he has already spoken to Caicedo and expressed his opinion on the matter.
“I think he’s a good guy. He’s focused only on Brighton,” Roberto De Zerbi said at a pre-match press conference. “I hope he can stay with us until the end of the season because, in my opinion, it’s the best solution for him and us.“
Roberto De Zerbi added: “I can understand the other big teams want our young players – [Alexis] Mac Allister, Caicedo, [Kaoru] Mitoma, [Solly] March – but the decision is for the players and the club.
“I spoke with him [Caicedo] Wednesday and I told him my opinion. I think it’s always difficult to change during the season because you can find more problems. It is important to stay another four months.”
Moises Caicedo has been a regular starter for Brighton & Hove Albion in what has so far been an impressive 22/23 campaign for the Seagulls. Hence, it is easy to understand why Brighton does not want to sell the midfielder in the January transfer window.
However, Moises Caicedo has since issued a public plea to Brighton & Hove Albion to let him leave the club in the January transfer window. In a post on social media, Caicedo revealed he wants to take up this magnificent opportunity amid club record bid for the midfielder.
