According to SPORT, Sergio Busquets’ first El Clasico appearance came in December 2018 when he came on as a substitute in Barcelona’s 2-0 win over Real Madrid.
Of his 46 El Clasico appearances so far, Sergio Busquets started in 43 of those and came off the bench in the other three. He is also by far the player with the most wins in El Clasico.
Sergio Busquets has won 22, drawn eight, and suffered defeats in 16 of the 46 matches he has played against Real Madrid as a Barcelona player. Paco Gento had previously held the record for most El Clasico wins, having won 21 games. But Barcelona’s win over Real Madrid in Copa del Rey semi-final first leg saw Sergio Busquets overtake the Real Madrid legend.
Barcelona will take on Real Madrid in La Liga later this month. The Catalan outfit will then square off with Real Madrid in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final in April. Should Busquets feature in both of those mentioned above, he will have featured in 48 El Clasico matches.
Meanwhile, Barcelona’s 1-0 win over Real Madrid gives the Catalan outfit an edge heading into the second leg of the Copa del Rey title.
Barcelona will now turn their attention to the La Liga match against Valencia, which comes next. Xavi and co. will be aiming to maintain their seven-point lead at the top of the La Liga table with a win over Valencia.
