Tensions High at Real Madrid as Florentino Perez Visits Dressing Room With Carlo Ancelotti’s Future in Doubt

CRICKEX

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti’s future at Santiago Bernabeu is doubtful right now. He is likely to be at the helm for the end of the season. However, his long-term future is under consideration.

According to Relvo, Florentino Perez has visited Carlo Ancelotti in the dressing room. It is always a bad sign to have Perez in the dressing room. The report stated that Perez had a long chat with the Italian.

He meet the Real Madrid manager in the dressing room after Los Blancos drew 0-0 against Real Betis. After the game, Manuel Pellegrini attended the press conference before his Italian counterpart.

Usually, it is the away-side manager who first attends the press conference before the home-side manager. However, Ancelotti could not attend the after-game press conference before Pellegrini as he was talking with Perez.

It has been far from a perfect season for Los Blancos. Currently, they are nine points behind Barcelona in La Liga. Barca have 62 points from 24 games and Real Madrid has 53 points from 24 games.

To add more salt to the wounds, Los Blancos lost the first leg of the Copa Del Rey tie to Barcelona. Although there is a return leg for the Copa Del Rey clash but a defeat would mean a knockout from the competition.

In the coming days, they will again take on Barcelona in another El Clasico in La Liga. A defeat at Camp Nou would certainly mean an end to Real Madrid‘s hopes of retaining La Liga. Thus the upcoming few games could potentially make or break Real Madrid’s current season.

They have a game at the Santiago Bernabeu against Liverpool in the second leg of the Round of 16 of the Champions League. Los Blancos also have a 5-2 advantage going into the game. However, Jurgen Klopp’s side are in red-hot form after thrashing Manchester United by 7-0.

Potential Replacements for Ancelotti at Real Madrid

There have been rumors that the Italian manager will be sacked if Los Blancos fail to win a major trophy this season. Barcelona within a matter of weeks could potentially destroy Real Madrid’s chance of winning domestic silverware. Also, Liverpool are also charged up and ready to go.

Thus it could mean an end to the Italian’s second rein at Bernabeu. Former fan favorite Zinedine Zidane has been linked with a return to the club. However, it seems unlikely that he will come back for a third stint.

Thomas Tuchel has been heavily linked with the job. The German has a fantastic CV as he guided Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint Germain, and Chelsea to trophies. The most impressive of the lot was his Champions League win with the Blues. However, Perez is keen to sign Mauricio Pochettino.

The former Southampton manager is best known for his work at Tottenham Hotspur. Recently he also managed PSG as well. But his side failed to go past Ancelotti’s side in the Round of 16 last season.
