Thiago Silva Extends His Contract at Chelsea

Chelsea defender Thiago Silva has signed a new deal with the club. The Brazil international has been a consistent performer for the Blues since joining on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain during the summer transfer window of 2020.

So far, he has played 74 Premier League games for the London outfit, registering five goals and two assists. Thiago Silva also helped Chelsea keep 26 clean sheets in the process.

Chelsea defender Thiago Silva has officially signed a new one-year contract at the club. His previous contract at Stamford Bridge was set to expire at the end of the current season.

The Blues have offered him an extension, keeping him at the club until 2024. Thiago Silva is among Chelsea’s top performers this season despite his age. He has played 19 games thus far, assisting two goals.

The Brazil international expressed his delight after signing a new deal. While speaking to Chelsea’s official website, he said: “I am honestly so happy to continue my career with the Blues. When I signed my first contract here, it was to just do one year. Now it is already the fourth! I could not have imagined that, but really it is a very special moment for me to sign and stay at Chelsea.”

Apart from that, Chelsea are also working on extending the contracts of N’Golo Kante and Mason Mount. Kante’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the current season, whereas, Mount has a deal until 2024.

Kalidou Koulibaly linked with Chelsea exit

According to journalist Graeme Bailey, Kalidou Koulibaly is set to leave Chelsea at the end of the summer transfer window. The Senegalese international has struggled since arriving at Stamford Bridge for £34 million from Napoli last summer.

He has played 14 Premier League games this season, scoring two goals. Kalidou Koulibaly has fallen down the pecking order in recent games as Graham Potter prefers January signing Benoit Badiashile in his starting line-up.

The 31-year-old defender could leave ahead of the 2023-24 season. As per Simon Phillips, Chelsea will entertain bids for him next summer.

When will Chelsea play next?

Chelsea have struggled this season, winning just eight of their 21 league games so far. The Blues are currently ninth in the Premier League table, whopping 20 points behind leaders Arsenal. They will next lock horns against West Ham United in a league game at the London Stadium later today.
