Thiago Silva: Chelsea are set to offer Thiago Silva a new contract that would extend his stay at the Stamford Bridge outfit beyond the end of the 22/23 season, according to a report in The Times.
Thiago Silva’s current deal with Chelsea is due to expire at the end of the season, but Chelsea want to retain the services of the highly-rated veteran defender beyond that.
Thiago Silva has been playing for Chelsea ever since the Blues signed him on a free transfer in the summer of 2020 after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain had expired. He signed a one-year contract with Chelsea with option for another year back in 2020.
Thiago Silva then extended his contract with Chelsea in January 2022, signing a one-year deal that would keep him at the club until the end of the 22/23 season.

Chelsea set to offer Thiago Silva new contract
The Times report that Chelsea are preparing to offer Thiago Silva a new contract which would extend his stay at the club. Chelsea manager Graham Potter and the club’s hierarchy have been impressed with Silva’s attitude and ability, according to the report.
Since joining Chelsea in the summer of 2020, Thiago Silva has appeared in 105 matches across all competitions for the Premier League. He has already won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup titles with Chelsea.
Thiago Silva, who will turn 39 in September this year, has already made 23 appearances for the Blues across Premier League and Champions League so far this season.
He has been one of Chelsea’s better players in what has so far been a rather underwhelming 22/23 campaign for the west London outfit.
Chelsea currently languishes at 10th in the Premier League points table, with Graham Potter and co. 21 points adrift of table-toppers Arsenal. That’s despite their heavy spending in the summer and January transfer windows.
Chelsea are also 10 points behind fourth-placed Manchester United in the race for a top-four finish. Chelsea have won just one of the last five Premier League games they have played. They suffered defeats in two matches while two other matches ended in a draw.
The Stamford Bridge outfit will take on Fulham, who had inflicted a 2-1 defeat on the Blues earlier this month, in their next match in the Premier League.
