Thibaut Courtois has named two sides he wants Real Madrid to avoid in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
Real Madrid, who are the defending Champions League winners, have qualified for the quarter-finals of the competition after defeating Liverpool in a two-legged round-of-16 tie.
Real Madrid romped their way to a 5-2 win at Anfield in the first leg and then secured a 1-0 win at Santiago Bernabeu in the second leg to seal their place in the UCL quarter-finals with a 6-2 aggregate win.
The Spanish behemoths will learn on Friday who they will be facing in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Real Madrid can be drawn against any of the other teams who have qualified for the quarter-finals. AC Milan, Bayern Munich, Benfica, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Manchester City, and Napoli have also qualified for the last 8 of the competition alongside Real Madrid.

Speaking after Real Madrid defeated Liverpool 1-0 in the Champions League round-of-16 second leg, Thibaut Courtois revealed he wants his team to avoid Manchester City and Chelsea in the quarter-finals.

“I would like to change a bit,” Thibaut Courtois said. “Last year we already faced City and Chelsea, let’s see if we play other teams this year. Haaland is very good, he is one of the stars of football.
“Last year we made it clear what character we have in the team, with comebacks, we earn respect, we show that Real Madrid is always there.”
Meanwhile, Manchester City booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League with an 8-1 aggregate win over RB Leipzig. After the first leg which ended in a 1-1 draw, Manchester City waltzed to a 7-0 win in the second leg against the German side.
Chelsea, meanwhile, secured passage to the last 8 of the Champions League after getting the better of Borussia Dortmund in the round of 16. After a 1-0 defeat to Dortmund in the first leg, Chelsea secured a 2-0 win in the second leg to secure progression.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid will face El Clasico rivals Barcelona in a La Liga fixture in their next game. Real Madrid will be aiming to reduce their gap on La Liga table toppers Barcelona to six points with a defeat of the Catalan outfit.
