Speaking after the match, Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller said things always go well for the German side against Lionel Messi in an apparent dig at the PSG star.
However, Thomas Muller also stressed that he has the greatest respect for Lionel Messi’s performance at FIFA World Cup 2022, where he led the Argentine to a title victory.
“Against Messi, things always go well at all levels in terms of results. At the club level, Cristiano Ronaldo was our problem when he was at Real Madrid. But I have the greatest respect for Messi’s World Cup performance,” Thomas Muller said.
“Messi’s individual performance at the World Cup was amazing. He carried the whole squad. It’s not so easy to play at a team like PSG. It’s difficult to get a really good team balance.”
PSG failed to score a goal in both legs of their Champions League round of 16 tie against Bayern Munich. It is a disappointing outcome for a side as star-studded as PSG’s.
Meanwhile, PSG will now turn their attention to Ligue 1, where they are the defending champions. PSG sits atop the Ligue 1 points table and will be hoping to retain the title this season.
