Wout Weghorst Assesses His Manchester United Stint So Far

Manchester United attacker Wout Weghorst believes he is doing a good job for the team following his loan move to the Old Trafford outfit in the January transfer window.

Manchester United signed Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley for the remainder of the season in January. Weghorst was playing for Turkish side Besiktas on loan from Burnley when Manchester United came calling.

Besiktas then terminated Wout Weghorst’s contract after Manchester United agreed to pay a compensation fee. Since signing for the Red Devils, Weghorst has established himself as a key player at the Old Trafford outfit.

He has regularly featured for Manchester United since making the move to the Red Devils but has not been prolific in front of goal. That has led to criticism of him, but Weghorst insists he is doing a good job for the team.

Assessing his performance for Manchester United so far, Wout Weghorst said: “I’ve played a lot of matches and it shows the trust in me. It also shows that I am doing a good job for the team.

“That was the thing I wanted when I came here – to contribute and try and help the club to be successful to win trophies.

“We have one now. We have two more to go with the Europa League and FA Cup, and we want to get as high as possible in the table and definitely top four for the Champions League.

“So it just shows me that I am being part of it. And being part of us being successful and that appreciation, that’s a good thing.”

Wout Weghorst has made 18 appearances across all competitions for Manchester United so far this season. He started in all those fixtures,s which shows how regular a starter he become at the Premier League side.

Wout Weghorst has two goals and two assists to his name at Manchester United so far this season. He scored a goal each in Europa League and EFL Cup, while his assists came in Premier League and FA Cup.

Meanwhile, Manchester United, who won the EFL Cup earlier this year, remains in contention for FA Cup and Europa League titles. In Premier League, they sit third, but trail table-toppers Arsenal by 19 points.
