FC Barcelona manager Xavi stressed they must attack better after the Catalan outfit secured a narrow win over Athletic Club in their most recent fixture.
Barcelona squared off with Athletic Club in a La Liga fixture in their most recent match and registered a 1-0 victory. The win helped Barcelona restore a nine-point lead at the top of the La Liga points table.
Although Barcelona earned three important points from the game against Athletic Club, Xavi insisted that they must be more clinical in attack.
“We have been at a good level for 75 minutes although we have to attack better. It was a difficult course and in San Mamés you end up suffering,” Xavi said after Barcelona defeated Athletic Club.

“It is a golden victory for us and we take three very important points. But we have to get better at the game. We have had two or three clear chances in the second half: from Ansu, from Balde for not choosing well, from Lewandowski with a header,” Xavi added.
“We have to improve in that aspect, be calmer and more patient, and play more in the opposite field. Defensive solvency must also be valued, but it is true that we have to improve in the opposite field.”
Barcelona now have 65 points from 25 matches in La Liga so far in the current campaign. Fierce rivals and defending champions Real Madrid, who sit second in the La Liga table, have 56 points from 25 matches so far this season. In the race for the La Liga title, Barcelona enjoys a nine-point lead over Real Madrid, who they face next.
Real Madrid and Barcelona will square off at Camp Nou in both teams’ upcoming fixture. Barcelona will be aiming to extend their lead to 12 points by defeating Real Madrid.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, will be eyeing to reduce their gap on Barcelona to six points with a win at Camp Nou.
The two sides will also square off in the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg in April. Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 1-0 in the first leg, and the Catalan outfit have the edge going into the second leg which will be played at Camp Nou.
