Switzerland national football team and Borussia Mönchengladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer is an option for Bundesliga behemoths Bayern Munich as they look to sign a goalkeeper to replace Manuel Neuer, who sustained an injury earlier this month.
Manuel Neuer has been ruled of the remainder of the 22/23 season after he broke his leg in a skiing accident during his vacation after Germany’s group exit at FIFA World Cup 2022. The Bayern Munich goalkeeper was part of the Germany national football team that participated at Qatar 2022.
Bayern Munich have been linked with a number of goalkeepers as they look to sign one to replace Manuel Neuer, who will not return to action for the German club this season.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Yann Sommer is one of the options Bayern Munich are considering to replace Manuel Neuer. However, the Italian journalist also said talks are ongoing but stressed they are not at an advanced stage just yet.

Yann Sommer to replace injured Manuel Neuer?
“Yann Sommer is an option for Bayern as the new goalkeeper to replace Neuer. Talks are ongoing – but not advanced yet. He’s one of the names in the list,” Fabrizio Romano wrote on Twitter.
Fabrizio Romano also reports that Yann Sommer has also attracted transfer interest from Serie A giants Inter Milan. However, the Italian outfit wants to sign Yann Sommer on a free transfer next summer.
Yann Sommer has been playing for Borussia Mönchengladbach since 2014. He has so far featured in 335 games across all competitions for the German club. The 34-year-old goalkeeper last renewed his contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2019. His current deal with the Bundesliga outfit expires on June 30, 2023.
Yann Sommer was part of the Switzerland national football team that participated at the FIFA World Cup 2022. He featured in three games for Switzerland at Qatar 2022. Switzerland’s FIFA World Cup 2022 campaign came to an end in the round-of-16, where Portugal inflicted a heavy 6-1 defeat on them.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich sits atop the points table in Bundesliga 22/23 season. The defending champions occupy first place with 34 points from 15 games. Borussia Mönchengladbach, meanwhile, languishes at eighth, with 22 points from 15 matches.
