Formula 1 news: Aston Martin have parted ways with its team Principle Otmar Szafnauer. The departure of Otmar was announced by Aston Martin on Wednesday.

Aston Martin has announced that Otmar Szafnauer has left his role as the principal. He has been with the Silverstone-based team over the past 12 years. Since it was called Force India and Racing point.

When last September, Aston Martin announced former McLaren boss Martin Whitmarsh as their new Chief Executive Officer, Szafnauer said that his position would not be a threat but people doubted his future in the team.

At that team, he only said that the arrival of Whitman as the CEO will allow him to focus entirely on the race team. Now on January 5, Aston Martin has confirmed his exit from the team.

Szafnauer was a part of the team since 2009 when it is known as Force India. He played a major role in improving its performance. As the team was purchased by Lawrence Stroll and was named as racing point, his role remained the same.

His role was crucial in the improved performance of the team in the 2020 season. Under their new name, racing point, as they won the race through Perez at the Sakhir Grand Prix, and three further podiums.

Otmar Szafnauer was the most recent CEO and principal of the Aston Martin Formula 1 team.

He is a Romanian-American engineer. He has played a major role in improving the performance of force India since 2009.

Force India finished seventh in 2010 and sixth in 2011, 2013, and 2014 and made it to the top five in 2015. Otmar was the main reason for the team accepting a long-term agreement to use Mercedes Powertrain.

He was also inducted into the USF2000 hall of fame in 2013. He was inducted For his racing achievements over the past twenty years.

Aston Martin thanked Szafnauer for his 12-year service in a statement and wished him well for his future. They also said that “Fortunately, we are led and managed by a strong group of individuals, and we are comfortable to take a little time to explore options before announcing a new team structure.”

“The focus of the team is currently on preparing the most competitive car possible for the start of the 2022 season,” they added. So far, it is rumored that he is going to join midfield rivals Alpine.
