Formula 1 News: Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen’s rivalry took a sour and foul turn after unfortunate collisions in Silverstone and Monza. The viewers majorly blamed Verstappen for the crash in Monza– for not giving Hamilton enough room.

But another major criticism was about Verstappen walking away from Hamilton while the Dutchman’s rear-tyre bumped on Hamilton’s head. Talking about the incident, the 36-year-old race driver claims that he would have checked on his counterpart if the roles were reversed.

He claimed that the ‘cage of age’ would have forced him to check. At the same time, he didn’t expect Verstappen to check on him. In the end, Hamilton has no ill-will towards Verstappen for the crash.

I don’t really feel a particular way about it,he told Channel 4 of the crash. “We had that crash and of course I felt that physically. Have you watched Cool Runnings? In the end, they crash the bobsleigh, they get out, say they have to finish the race, that’s my mentality.”

The car is on top of me, how can I get back in the race? And so I wasn’t expecting him to check on me. I would have for sure checked on whoever it was that I landed on, but I’m older.”

Formula 1 news: Hamilton plans to be aggressive but respectful

Seven-time F1 world champion further claims he tries to compete with Verstappen respectfully. As he feels protecting Mercedes’ prospects are his responsibility, and recklessness will spoil it.

However, that doesn’t mean the Briton will yield from any battle with Verstappen on the track. Since winning the championship would require conquering such duels against his biggest adversary on the route to glory.

I try to approach him respectfully, but also I’m a fighter, I’m not backing down in the racing scenario,” said Hamilton. “I’m trying to be always sensible because at the end of the day I’ve got 2000 people relying on me to be sensible, to bring the car home in one piece and it’s not about me. It’s about all of us winning the championship.

Hamilton is currently only six points behind Verstappen in the championship. Going into the US Grand Prix, Mercedes have better prospects to win. Therefore, the Briton would be eyeing to dominate across the Grand Prix weekend in Austin.

Formula 1 news: Lewis Hamilton is pumped up differently

Hamilton winning the 2021 championship will statistically overpower Michael Schumacher regarding the number of world titles won. It will bolster his claim over the greatest F1 driver of all time tag.

However, looking back to his 2008 McLaren ambitions and now. The Mercedes ace claims that proving others wrong no more fuels him to compete for laurels. Instead, he wants to use his pedestal and privileges to improve the lives of the oppressed.

Hamilton has been heavily vocal about racism and other social injustices in the world. His Hamilton commission, which released its first report this year, aims to increase diversity in motorsports.
