Formula 1 news: Red Bull star Max Verstappen commented on Lewis Hamilton. He proclaimed that Hamilton can call himself “lucky” to have won 7 World Championship titles before he finally flung him off. Hamilton missed the first in the final race of the 2021 Formula 1 season at Abu Dhabi GP. He lost to Max after a late safety car interval gave the 24-year-old his chance to seize the victory on the last lap.
The Race Director Michael Masi delivered Verstappen an opportunity to get back when he was permitted to move through the area after only the 5 lapped cars between himself and Lewis were asked to pass the safety car.
Max went on to push his way around the Brit at the right time. It was at the moment the last lap that led him to stamp his first-ever Drivers’ Championship victory dramatically.
The startling result provoked controversy after the race. This was because many people believed that all the lapped cars should have got un-lapped first under the safety car before Max was allowed to move ahead.
Hamilton was incredibly close to bagging another historic eighth win. However, he lost it. Presently, he is probably unsure of whether he should stay or leave the sport. He is “disillusioned” by the unfortunate incident that occurred due to Masi.
Formula 1 news: Max Verstappen haves a dig at Lewis Hamilton saying he has been “lucky” to win the titles all these years
After Hamilton’s loss, the Red Bull driver has since grabbed the chance to target a subtle dig at him. He insisted that the 37-year-old has rejoiced a lot of luck during his eminence in F1 over these years.
As per GP Fans’ report, Verstappen said that everything that would be coming to him in his career would be a “bonus” and he would “enjoy” it. He said this as an answer to what his ambitions for the future were after his memorable win.
Referring to Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton, he said that you require “luck” to an extent to fight for the title in so many races and multiple seasons. You need an incredibly “dominant” team also for that. And, you can not always have those with you.
Talking about himself, he pointed out that it does not always happen. He wanted to win first always but it never worked out every time. So, everything that is coming to him is a “bonus”. But if he loses a race, he would not feel very upset. And, after a few minutes, he would be all fine.
Formula 1 news: Will 7 times title winner return for an 8th?
So now, it is still uncertain if Hamilton will make a return to the grid or not as he has not said anything after the incident. The F1 fans are eagerly awaiting his statement regarding his confirmation in the forthcoming weeks.
The primary pre-campaign test is all set to proceed in Barcelona very soon. If the possibility of Hamiton departing shockingly comes true, Mercedes will have no time to preserve a decent replacement so soon.
Supposedly, the English man is awaiting the findings of the FIA inquiry on the incidents that took place in Abu Dhabi. Thereafter, he will make his decision. And, figure out if he will be able to keep faith in the governing body of F1 in the future or not.
However, the time for the verdict declaration is just a couple of days before the first race of the 2022 season. The race is set to take place in Bahrain in March. So, Hamilton has to make a crucial decision before the title trial proceeds.
Recently, Martin Brundle expressed that Hamilton will not be able to suppress his desire to earn a phenomenal eighth title.
It is unlikely that he will leave the sport so early. He added that Hamilton is just 37, and at the peak of his driving career. He is “competitive” and “determined”. And, he said, “He’ll be back.”
