Chelsea’s all-time top-scorer Frank Lampard recently revealed his feelings after scoring against the Blues for Manchester City in the 2014-15 season.
It is very rare for a player to score against the club that he loves and has played for over a decade. But Frank Lampard had to bear the burden of scoring against Chelsea when he scored for Manchester City a few years ago.
That goal helped the Citizens gain a point against their arch-rivals, however, Lampard did not celebrate the goal and revealed recently how he felt after scoring the all-important equalizer in the game.

Frank Lampard admits it was really tough to score against Blues
Lampard spoke in an interview with Copa90 recently and spoke about his feelings after scoring the goal. The legendary goal-scoring midfielder felt scared that the goal would hurt his relationship with the Chelsea fans.
He said,”It was tough, it was really tough, listen, I had to do my job, Everyone tells me they had a feeling I was going to score, I only came on for 20 minutes. It’s one of those things that happens in football.”
Lampard enjoyed an illustrious career with the Blues, winning several trophies with them before departing in 2014.
Lampard further praised the Chelsea fans for their attitude towards him and said,”The Chelsea fans were incredible for me and going to Man City was a massive choice for me.”
He also spoke about how he was afraid he would lose his place amongst the Chelsea fans. “I didn’t want to lose 13 years, I had a great bond with the Chelsea fans, and I was like ‘ah, is this going to taint 13 years?”, said Lampard.
Lampard also reflected on his time at Chelsea and said,“I don’t think it did in the end, and [going to Man City] was a great opportunity for me. I loved my time at City, and scoring that goal, I was concerned how it would be but [the Chelsea fans’] reaction afterwards was incredible, and since then.”
