The Brazilian was Jose Mourinho’s only major recruitment this season and has been frozen at Old Trafford.
Following the sacking of Jose Mourinho, things are expected to change at Manchester United. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been appointed and is expected to play Ferguson way. Fred was given assurances by the Portuguese that he would form part of his first-choice midfield. But he has been largely on the periphery since joining, making just eight league appearances as United have made their worst start to a season in 28 years. Fred is determined to fight for his Manchester United future in the wake of Jose Mourinho’s sacking as manager.
Gilberto Silva, the former Arsenal midfielder and Fred’s agent said there’s no chance of Fred leaving. He said, “There is no chance of him leaving United. He has a five-year contract. It is not because the first six months were not good enough that he is willing to leave – or even after one year. Obviously, when you don’t play too much it is worrying because you want to show your quality. Although from the outside view it seems there is tension regarding him not playing that much, his work on a daily basis has been good.”
Silva also said on how in big games Fred is on the bench despite Mourinho sending him a text and assuring him starting alongside Pogba and Matic. The trio have started just four matches together this season. Silva said, “The club’s momentum does not help anybody.” He further had his say on Jose’s sacking. Silva added, “Mourinho’s sacking is an example of that. And there is an impact on everybody, not only on Fred, who is grateful for Mourinho believing in his signing. There was no problem between them, only respect. Even though Fred is trying to do his best and is expecting to play more. He respects the decisions from above of him.”
It seems Ole Gunnar Solskjaer arrival could change Fred’s tenure at Old Trafford. Under new manager, there’s a renewed chance for the Brazilian to impress his new boss. There’s no doubt over the fact that Fred’s place in playing XI.
