Speculation has been rife about Chelsea’s star winger to make a switch to Madrid this summer. Eden Hazard, arguably Chelsea’s and in fact Premier League’s best player is linked with a move to the Galacticos. The situation is very similar to the time when Hazard came to the Premier League. Hazard has been in a sublime form under Conte as Chelsea are close to winning the League this season. This would be Hazard’s second league win in his five seasons with the Blues. He has played a crucial role in both their winning campaigns. There has been an interest from the Spanish giants as they look to bolster their squad as they prepare to dominate Europe again.
Hazard and transfer sagas:
Hazard isn’t a stranger to transfer sagas. When we look back at 2012, Hazard was linked to every single top club in the Premier League. His interviews would have conflicting hints, preferring different clubs at different points of time. While most believed that the player would be heading Manchester, the news did confirm that he had chosen Blue. That led the entire world to infer that the player will be joining United rivals City, who had been playing their best football ever. It all went for a toss as Chelsea announced the signing of the player. Many had criticised Hazard for running after money and manipulating the media in order to achieve it.
Interest from Real Madrid:
Real Madrid have had a brilliant so far, as they are well placed to secure the La Liga provided they do not collapse towards the end. They face their toughest test against Bayern in the Champions League and it is very uncertain as to who will win. Amidst all this, one thing that this season has pointed out is that Real’s attack hasn’t been as lethal as it used to be. The team often has to rely on their captain Sergio Ramos to convert in a set piece. These might be worrying trends for a team which are rivalled by teams like Barcelona who have one of the best attacks in the world.
In Real’s scheme of things, the weak link has often been Benzema as his performances have been erratic in nature. On his day, he is unstoppable yet the frequency of such performances has gone down. The next natural option is Ronaldo, who is their best finisher in the squad. If they do move Ronaldo to strike, they need to get a world class left winger. Given his speed and skills, Eden Hazard totally fits the bill. The Belgian is equipped with all that is needed out a Real Madrid winger. Hazard, Ronaldo and Bale would make a lethal front three as they possess the talent to tear apart any team with their counter attacks. Therefore, Real’s interest is justified and the Spanish outfit will be looking to secure Hazard’s signature at any costs.
In his post-match interview after a 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace, Hazard was asked if he fancied a move to Spain. Hazard laughed off the question, he replied,
“Why do you want to put me in s**t?”
He said his contract runs at Chelsea till 2020 and he is there for now. This is one of the typical Hazard interviews where he neither says a yes or no. He has always been cryptic about transfer rumors. Though, Chelsea, on the other hand, will look to keep the player at Stamford Bridge. Conte has assured Hazard that he will be able to fulfil his ambition in London itself and also prepared a better contract for the player. Well, only the summer shall decide what lies in store for us.
