Lucas Moura, over the course of his stay at French giants Paris Saint-Germain has established himself as one of the brightest prospects in Europe and a lot many clubs have been after his signature for a while now. Recently, though Lucas has made revelations that indicate that he had almost played for Manchester United in 2013 but the deal could not materialise as Sir Alex Ferguson wasn’t too keen on signing the lad.

Manchester United and their scouts had been closely monitoring the progress of the young Lucas Moura back in 2013 and were clearly impressed with what they saw. They decided to make a move for the young, talented Brazillian but they could not compete with PSG and their ridiculously huge offer and chose to stop pursuing him.

Sir Alex Ferguson was incredibly angry at the amount of money being splashed by PSG in the transfer market and claimed that “the game’s gone mad”. He was publicly critical of the Qatari-backed French club and how much they chose to spend in the transfer market.

PSG had been active in the transfer market with huge name signings such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva. The club had already spent a little over than a £100 million and chose to shell out £45 million more to sign the 19-year old Lucas Moura.

Sir AlexFerguson:”I find it quite amazing that a club can pay €45 million for a 19-year-old boy. To make a mark on everyone – to tell everyone that PSG are here – they’ve signed Thiago Silva from Milan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

“They must have spent about €150 million in the last month. As you know, the only deterrent to that is UEFA.
“When somebody’s paying €45 million for a 19-year-old boy you have to say the game’s gone mad.”

4 years later, Lucas Moura has appeared on the Manchester United radar again with reports of Jose Mourinho looking to sign the Brazillian in the summer transfer window.
