Hull City vs. Chelsea : Player Ratings

Antonio Conte’s arrival at Stamford Bridge came with a defensive assurance that none other in the modern game could really offer, but that hasn’t been the case and Chelsea have conceded at least a goal every game.

Conte suffered his biggest defeat in last 7 years of management against Arsenal in their 3-0 loss and was under real pressure to put in a good performance against Hull City to keep their title hopes alive and their player’s well integrated.

Conte fielded a 5-3-2 line-up as Willian scored a sumptuous goal and Costa followed it up with another helping Blues with a 2-0 win.

We look at the ratings for Chelsea players :

Made a great save from the Snodgrass free-kick earlier in the game and other couple of great saves to keep a clean sheet.

Cesar Azpilicueta – 7/10

Once again a great compact defensive display from the Spaniard to keep every Hull attack at the bay.

Brazilian was commanding from the heart of the back 3 and also distributed the ball really well to keep the attacks fast and going.

Gary Cahill – 7/10

Very assured performance from the English international who learned a lot from his game against Arsenal. Cleared everything that Hull tried.

Willian – 8/10

One of the brightest players for Chelsea on the pitch, he was involved in almost everything. His work ethic was incredible too. The goal to break the jinx was from the top drawer.

N’Golo Kantè – 7/10

Showed again that was great buy he is. Was going forward more often last afternoon and also landed a chance to put the ball back in the empty net which he squandered away.

Victor Moses – 7/10

Starting the game he looked very tough to deal with down his flank, he was going past his marker very easily and was a constant threat for Hull City. Kept the attacks going for Chelsea in the second half.

Nemanja Matic – 7/10

Matic of the 2014/15 season looked to be on the pitch as he broke down almost all of the Hull attacks in the middle of the park and also placed the ball for Costa to double up the Chelsea’s lead.

Eden Hazard – 6/10

Not up to his real best but was good in moments. Forced Marshall to make a good save. Also he was adventurous in his no. 10 role.

Chelsea’s best player. He was great and he added up his performance with another goal.
His link-up play was superb and also his contribution in defense was notable.
