Chelsea will be hoping to get their season back on track when they host a depleted Tottenham Hotspur side at the Stamford Bridge in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final

Chelsea have been handed a huge boost ahead of their tie against Spurs. Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Son will all be unavailable for the game for different reasons. Spurs do have a 1-0 advantage, courtesy of a penalty by Harry Kane at Wembley. However, Chelsea will be fully expected to overturn that deficit and advance to the finals of the Carabao Cup. Chelsea have not been their usual selves in the last few weeks and have lost 2 out the last 3 games across all competitions. Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri publicly lashed out at the players after their embarrassing defeat at the hands of city rivals Arsenal.
Finding the net has been a major issue for Chelsea, especially when Eden Hazard hasn’t been able to come up with the goods. Both of Chelsea’s strikers Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud have been unable to find any kind of consistency as far as scoring is concerned.

Chelsea’s Belgian talisman Eden Hazard, after enjoy a blistering start to the season has slowed down slightly and has scored just 3 times in his last 10 appearances. Hazard said that managers will never be happy with his performances and will always expect more.
I didn’t just frustrate Conte,” he told France Football.

“In my career I’ve frustrated all my managers, and now, I’m frustrating Sarri. I frustrated Mourinho.

“They all think you need to score more, do more of this and more of that. I’ll also frustrate the next manager I have.”
“After the World Cup, I wanted to leave, but in the end I stayed at Chelsea and I’m playing one of best seasons so far,” he said.
“So I don’t think that I need a different challenge. But that doesn’t mean that I will become better.”

Author’s take

Chelsea have agreed to sign Argentina forward Gonzalo Higuain. Higuain is a proven goalscorer and hopefully, for Chelsea, he can find form quickly so that some pressure might be eased from the shoulders of Hazard.
