“I would love to coach him”; Zidane on superstar attacker

Real madrid players

Real Madrid are expected to rattle a few cages this summer window and have set their eyes on a Paris Saint-Germain’s superstar forwards.

Zinedine Zidane has fuelled speculation regarding a possible move for Kylian Mbappe by Real Madrid. The returning Frenchman is reluctant to discuss supposed interest in players elsewhere but admits to being an admirer of a fellow World Cup winner. Mbappe has been linked with a move to the Spanish capital for some time now. And comments by the Madrid boss will only raise further eyebrows and turn a few heads.

Zidane keen to work with Mbappe

Quizzed on whether he is looking to land one of the PSG frontmen, “Neymar or Mbappe? I’m not going to talk about players who are not mine. I would love to coach Mbappe, as all the good players. But this is not the moment to talk about that.”

Such talent is always of obvious appeal to the ‘Galactico’ model in Madrid. It was well documented that Los Blancos were keen on the youngster before he made his move to Paris from Monaco in 2017.

Clarity on Bale and Isco situation

Zinedine Zidane also clarified on the Bale’s situation at the club. The Welsh star has faced a lot of criticism this season and has been linked with a move back to the Premier League. But Zidane has offered hope by saying, “I’m not going to speak about Bale’s season up to this point. There are 11 matches left to play and I’m going to count on him. I’m going to repeat myself a lot here, but Gareth is ready to play.”

Another player who has struggled post the Frenchman’s departure is Isco. The nimble-footed playmaker thrived under Zidane and would hope the manager’s return would see an upturn in his fortune. Zizou is certain to have made the right impression on the Spaniard with his choice of words.“Isco just wants to play football, nothing else. We’re here just to think about football. I’m going to count on Isco, as well as other players, the important thing is that I make each player feel very involved.”

Both Gareth Bale and Isco Alarcon will be hopefull that the return of Zidane at the helm will help them elongate their careers at the Bernabeu.

Author’s Take

Zidane’s return has seen a lot of the creme de la creme of football being linked with a move to Real Madrid. The likes of Neymar, Mbappe, Hazard and even Harry Kane have featured in the back pages. And Florentino Perez is expected to get the cheque book out to aid Zidane in re-establishing Real’s dominance.

The club have already rolled the dice and secured the services of Eder Militao. While the Iscos and the Marcelos are expected to thrive, Gareth Bale’s days are numbered. Expect some major reshuffle at the Bernabeu as Zidane and his boys look to conquer Spain and Europe….once again.
