ICC T20 World Cup 2021 Live: 27TH October 2021 saw top-class performances from England and Namibia in their respective games of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. In the first match of the double-header on Wednesday, England played their second Super 12 game against Bangladesh. Eoin Morgan and Men exhibited yet another clinical performance to earn their second consecutive win of the tournament.
Bangladesh batted first and, once again, Moeen Ali began the proceedings with the ball. He sent both the openers back to the hut inside the first three overs to put Bangladesh into trouble. Their best bet, Shakib Al Hasan too didn’t stay too long as Chris Woakes accounted for his wicket in the last over of the powerplay to leave Bangladesh reeling at 26 for three. Liam Livingstone and Tymal Mills then ran through the middle-order to help England restrict Bangladesh to just 124 runs in the first innings.
Jos Buttler and Jason Roy made a solid start with the bat and didn’t let Bangladesh take early breakthroughs. Jos Buttler, though, got out on the final ball of the fifth over after scoring 18 off 18 deliveries. His partner, however, continued scoring runs at a great pace. Be it the pacers or spinners, Jason Roy didn’t spare anyone.
He went to score an outstanding match-winning 61 runs off 38 balls at a strike rate of 160.53. He got out in the 13th over but the game was all but over Bangladesh by then. England eventually chased down the score in 14.1 overs and won the game by 8 wickets.
The second game of the day was played between Scotland and Namibia. The latter extended their dream run in the tournament after defeating Scotland by 4 wickets to earn their first win of the Super 12 stage on Wednesday.
Namibia’s paceman, Trumpelmann exhibited a sensational first over of the innings. The left-arm seamers sent back as many as three batsmen in the very first over to leave Scotland reeling at 2 for 3. David Wiese then accounted for the wicket for Craig Wallace in the sixth over to leave Scotland in all sorts of trouble.
However, substantial contributions from Leask (44 off 27) and Chris Greaves (25 off 32) took the team to109 in the end. Namibia didn’t chase down the score easily as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Scotland bowlers fought hard and didn’t allow the opposition to score runs easily. By the end of the 12.3 overs, Namibia had lost 4 wickets for 67 runs. But vital knocks from David Wiese (16 off 14) and JJ Smith (32 off 23) helped Namibia chase down the score in 19.1 overs.
