ICC WTC Points Table: After suffering one inning, South Africa bounced back. The score is now tied after South Africa defeated New Zealand in the 2nd test. South Africa currently has a 60% winning percentage. Sri Lanka tops the group with 100%. The current WTC points table presents an image of probable finalists.
The India Sri Lanka series begins on 4th March. India will try to improve their winning percentage which is currently 49.7%. Australia vs Pakistan will also begin on 4th March. These matches will decide the probable finalists of the World Test Championship 2021-23.
Australia is currently positioned at 2 while Pakistan is at 3 in the WTC Points Table. The Indian team will give it their all to win against the visitors. Currently, India can now only afford to lose or draw one match if they want to be the contenders for the finals.
England is at the bottom of the points table. They have lost 6 matches and won only 1. The only match they won was against India at Leeds. They are out of the race for finals.
India and New Zealand, the previous finalists, are tussling at numbers 5 and 6 in the Table.
India, Pakistan, Australia, South Africa will be fighting hard for the final spot. South Africa plays Bangladesh on 31st March. South Africa has the opportunity to make things more difficult for India while Indian fans will hope for a miracle.
Sadly, South Africa can easily win the series against Bangladesh. They will be high on confidence after beating India in the previous match.
Dropping Broad and Anderson, England is in the process of Rebuilding their test side. They play West Indies on 8th March. We may get to see drastic changes in the England camp. This is definitely a month for test cricket lovers with so multiple matches taking place simultaneously.
Sri Lanka will face a dominant Indian side. It would be tough for Sri Lanka to maintain their 100% record in this series. Sri Lanka is yet to lose a match in this WTC. They beat West Indies, 2-0 in the last series.
ICC WTC Points Table: This is also Rohit Sharma’s first Test Series as a Captain. All eyes will be on Virat Kohli. The 33-year-old plays his 100th test in Mohali on 4th March. India can become Number 1 on the test side if they beat Sri Lanka, 2-0.
