‘If you do it, you can win,’ Arsenal star sends a message ahead of City clash

Arsenal defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos has urged his teammates to do the dirty work ahead of crucial Premier League clash against Manchester City.

Arsenal host Manchester City at Emirates Stadium on Sunday and the North Londoners will be hoping to register another victory in the Premier League and improve their rankings. Meanwhile, Manchester City have had it extremely difficult in the Premier League and are 14 points behind league leaders Liverpool.

The game against Manchester City is a difficult one but defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos believes ‘these are games where you can explode’.

“Of course, it is a very difficult game. Sometimes, these are games where you can explode. We need one good game in our home to explode,” the defender said [via Evening Standard].

The Greek defender also addressed the need to do dirty WORK to win the game. He said, “You have to have quality but to show the quality you have to first show intensity, win the duels, be organized.”

Arsenal won their recent Premier League fixture against West Ham and there is a need to continue the momentum to improve their position in the Premier League. The defender believes Arsenal have the quality ‘but to show the quality you have to do the dirty work’

” If you do the dirty work and you’re organized, you can win. But first of all, you have to work on intensity, pace and organization,” the 31-year-old said.

In their recent Europa League game, Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw by Standard Liege but the team managed to top the group and qualify for the next rounds of Europa League.

However, Arsenal would not have it easy against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. They had suffered defeat against Manchester United at Etihad Stadium in their recent Premier League game but thumped Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League fixture as Jesus scored a hat-trick.

Author’s Take

Manchester City maybe 14 points behind league leaders Liverpool, but they are not yet completely out of the title race. Both Arsenal and Manchester City desperately need a victory on Sunday and to be the better side and emerge victoriously, Arsenal players will have to do the dirty work and show their quality.
