Siraj hogged the limelight when he finished the Border Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia as India’s leading wicket-taker. The right-arm pacer took 13 wickets to his name and even impressed the fans at the best scene.
Having already made waves in red-ball cricket, Siraj is only trying his best to get better and pick up lessons on the go. The Hyderabad-born pacer took three wickets to his name in the first innings of the second Test at Wankhede.
He accounted for three key batsmen namely Tom Latham, Will Young. More importantly, he sent the experienced batsman Ross Taylor to the pavilion by bowling an absolute peach of a delivery.
India posted 325 in the first innings, thanks to Mayank Agarwal’s 150 and Axar Patel’s 52. Ajaz Patel took a ten-wicket haul. In reply, Indian bowlers dismantled New Zealand to a mere 62. Ravi Ashwin took 4 wickets to his name.
India declared the innings at 276/7. Mayank Agarwal top-scored with 62 including nine boundaries and a six. New Zealand ended up with 167 and lost the game by 372 runs. India won the Test series by 1-0.

Siraj has been performing well for India for the last couple of years. He even showcased his mettle on greener wickets. The selectors wouldn’t have any confusion in mind while naming him for India’s tour of South Africa.

Notably, the fast bowler represents RCB in the cash-rich Indian Premier League. The RCB team management was more than happy to retain the aggressive pacer for INR 7 crore in the upcoming season ahead of the mega auction.
While several fans were chanting RCB, Siraj immediately pointed towards his Indian jersey. The pacer asked the fans to chant for India instead. Siraj’s gesture earned praises from the fans.
Meanwhile, Siraj will be looking forward to doing well in the upcoming overseas assignment. In fact, India will rely on his essential skills when they lock horns with South Africa in red-ball cricket.
