IND VS SA: There will soon be an ODI series between South Africa and India. The ODI series between India and South Africa will consist of three games. On October 6, the first ODI will begin (Thursday).
The second and third T20Is will be played respectively on October 11 and 9 (Saturday) (Tuesday). A series of ODIs will be played during South Africa’s trip to India in 2022. Temba Bavuma is the captain of South Africa in the one-day international series against India, and Shikhar Dhawan is the captain of India.
There’s a risk that several members of the South African team won’t get to play in the T20I series against South Africa. Here, we take a closer look at three South African players who might miss the T20I series between South Africa and India.
South Africa has mostly maintained the same roster for the T20I series and the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in Australia, giving them extra playing time before the major competition. Andile Phehlukwayo and Janneman Malan were substituted in for Tristan Stubbs and Rilee Rossouw on the T20I team.
IND VS SA: Here Are 3 South African Players who Might Warm The Bench In the Entire Series
1. Lungi Ngidi
Four years ago, Lungi Ngidi made his ODI debut against India. He finished the series as the Proteas’ top wicket-taker with eight wickets in four games, including a four-wicket haul.
Ngidi has changed significantly since then. He won the IPL 2021 with the Chennai Super Kings the previous season, and in the two Test matches so far against India, he has taken 11 wickets.
Ngidi might pose a threat to India’s prospects of triumph because the circumstances are predicted to be favorable to fast bowlers. However, it looks unlikely for him to have a chance with the presence of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje.
2. Janneman Malan
In ODI cricket, Janneman Malan had a fantastic year in 2021. The right-handed batsman finished the year as the second-highest run-scorer among all batters with 509 runs in just seven ODI innings.
While, in the forthcoming series against India, Malan will be eager to maintain his recent success. In the 50-over format last year, the emerging star of South African cricket scored two century and two half-centuries.
India may have difficulties during the three-match ODI series against South Africa if Malan maintains his stellar performance. Fans should be aware that up till now, the Indian players had never faced Janneman at the senior level.
3. Andile Phehlukwayo
Phehlukwayo was included in the South Africa One Day International (ODI) team for their series against Australia in September 2016. On September 25, 2016, he played in his first ODI for South Africa against Ireland.
He was a member of South Africa’s Twenty20 International (T20I) team for their series against Sri Lanka in January 2017. On January 20, 2017, he played in his first T20I for South Africa against Sri Lanka. Phehlukwayo was a member of South Africa’s Test team for their series against England in June 2017, although he did not take the field.
Andile Phehlukwayo participated in his 50th ODI on June 23, 2019, against Pakistan. The International Cricket Council (ICC) designated Phehlukwayo as the team’s rising star after the World Cup.
