The game will kick off at Arun Jaitley Stadium in the national capital. It will be quite interesting to see which team switches gears to win the T20I opener. The first T20I is just less than two days away from getting underway.
The last time when these two crossed swords with each other in the Test and T20I series, Proteas came through with flying colours in both of the formats at home.
Meanwhile, senior cricketers including the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah have been rested for the upcoming T20I series. However, the trio will turn out for the team’s tour of England.

In regular captain Rohit Sharma’s absence, Lokesh Rahul will lead the team from the vanguard. On the other hand, Rishabh Pant will serve as his deputy.
IND VS SA: Temba Bavuma reveals why his team’s batters fear Kuldeep and Chahal
Meanwhile, South African cricket captain Temba Bavuma has admitted that Proteas batters fear Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal. He also gave a valid explanation behind why their batters fear KulCha.
Temba Bavuma further added that batters in team meetings often discuss ways to tackle the spin duo. Yuzvendra Chahal won the Purple Cap for finishing the IPL 2022 season with most wickets – 27. On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav took 21 wickets to his name.
The spin duo are expected to weave the magic with the ball against the Proteas batters. “We’ve played against them (Kuldeep and Chahal) a couple of times, and one hopes that this time we have a better understanding.
“The guys are individually speaking about them, discussing in team meetings”, said Proteas captain Temba Bavuma ahead of the first T20I against Team India. “They will have their individual ways of approaching spin and how they can be successful against the pair.”
“For the younger guys, it will be important how they receive the knowledge that the seniors share. But, the way we have played slow bowling over the last 18 months or so, as a group, it gives us a lot of confidence and self-belief that we can dominate spin bowling this time (in India),” he added.
