Virat Kohli who played a terrific innings against South Africa in the second T20I has been rested for the third T20I of the series.

The third and final T20I between Temba Bavuma-led Proteas and Rohit Sharma and Co will kick off on October 4 (Tuesday) at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore.

Proteas will be looking forward to avoiding the whitewash. On the other hand, India will be licking their lips to dismantle Proteas in the ongoing T20I series.

Apart from Virat Kohli, Lokesh Rahul has also been rested for the third T20I against South Africa. A BCCI official, on the condition of anonymity confirmed the development.

The Indian team management wants both Kohli and Rahul to rest for the final game to manage workload. “Yes, both Virat and Rahul have been rested from the final T20I,” said a BCCI official.

“It is important as an opener to understand what is required on a day and give it your best. It is the mindset I have always played in and will continue to do the same. Satisfying to test yourself in different conditions. I am surprised I am getting the Man of the Match award, Surya should have gotten it. He changed the game. Having batted in the middle order, I have realized that it is difficult,” KL Rahul said after receiving the Man of the Match award.
