IND VS SL: The first test match between India and Sri Lanka is underway. This test match is special as this marks Virat Kohli’s 100th appearance in tests. Fans were anxious to watch their idol score a ton to commemorate the occasion. However, as fate would have it, this did not happen. Twitter fans got angry on Rahul Dravid’s decision to declare India innings while Ravindra Jadeja was reaching the 200 mark.
Virat might have failed in the first innings, as he got out on 45, but we can be apprehensive for the second innings. Amidst all these, there has been yet another incident which has caught attention twitter wide.
Indian innings got some initial setbacks, but came back on track soon. Thanks to the marvellous display of batting by the lower order, along with Rishabh Pant and the all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja.
Wickets were falling in intervals, but one man ensured to stand tall at the crease. It was none other than, Sir Ravindra Jadeja. He utilized his experience and talent to ensure India got to a fighting total in the first innings.
IND VS SL: Rahul Dravid plays the trump card while Jadeja was nearing double ton
Ravindra Jadeja was unbeaten on 45 runs at stumps on Day 1. India had crossed the 300 run mark but had lost 06 wickets. Its intention was to bat their heart out to push Sri Lanka to the backfoot. Keeping this mindset, Indian team led by Jadeja came to bat on day 02.
There was not much difficulty to score runs against the inefficient Sri Lankan bowlers. Ravindra Jadeja made full use of the opportunity and smashed a brilliant half century off 87 deliveries. He kept his pace consistent, and reached to his ton in 160 deliveries.
He then tried to accelerate his pace, very much aware of his responsibility at the same time. However, as goes his nature, he smashed a humongous six to cross the 150 run mark, much to the awe of fans and players. He was slowly nearing to his maiden double ton when something unexpected took place.
We saw a long conversation between skipper, Rohit Sharma and head coach, Rahul Dravid in the pavilion. Not long after the same, Rohit Sharma signalled the on field players, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammad Shami to return back to the pavillion. India were 574 for the loss of 08 wickets while Ravindra Jadeja was batting at 175 runs. He was only 25 short of achieving the milestone, which sadly could not happen. Fans were clearly not impressed with this move from both the coach and the captain and raided Twitter with comments.
