“There will be a meeting on Friday between members of Cricket West Indies and the West Indies Players Association (WIPA) to discuss issues concerning team management and their participation in external player affairs,” according to Radio Jamaica.
The CWI vice president, Director of Cricket, and team management will attend a meeting. However, the meeting will take place to discuss WIPA’s complaint about Smith’s treatment.
West Indies head coach Phil Simmons has sought to dispel rumors. Moreover, Cricket West Indies has issued a formal statement on the subject.
Ricky Skerritt stated, “This apparent attempt by well-known mischief makers to undermine the Captain and derail the Team’s momentum in the ongoing Betway T20I Series can not be accepted or encouraged.”
In the ongoing T20I series in Barbados, Kieron Pollard is leading the West Indies. Moreover, the West Indies have a 2-1 lead in the series after winning the third T20I on Wednesday. On Saturday, the fourth T20I between the two teams will take place.
