IND VS WI: “West Indies side is learning and slowly improving for the World Cup”, says Rovman Powell

IND VS WI: After the close defeat at the hands of the India cricket team in the 2nd T20 Match. West Indies Captain Rovman Powell says “the side is learning and preparing for the upcoming world cup”

The visitors did great work in all the departments, yet they were too far from a win against India. Captain Powell played a brilliant knock of 68 runs off 36 balls along with Pooran scoring 62 runs off 41 balls.

However, the spin duo (Chahal & Bishnoi) did fabulous work in restricting the West Indies team by picking early wickets and making pressure on them.

After this competitive spirit displayed by the West Indies team, we can say that the 3rd T20 won’t be a cakewalk for the Indian side as West Indies did an amazing comeback in the last T20 match.

On the other side, Team India received major early breakthroughs in the form of Rohit and Kishan. However, Virat Kohli and Venkatesh built an amazing partnership and put up a decent fighting score to defend their side.

The major drawback from West Indies’ side was their fielding as they dropped easy catches and fielding was quite rough, another 10-20 runs would have been saved.

On one stage, the destructive partnership of Nicolas Pooran and Rovman Powell nearly grabbed the match in the West Indies pocket. The fans were entirely on the edge of their seats to witness this highly intense match.

Rovman Powell speaks on building team and following a process

“If you look at the last series, and this series, there are a lot of areas we can identify that the guys have improved. We are slowly building towards the World Cup and it’s important to keep improving series by series. We’ve got partnerships going and if we keep doing that, we are going to win more than we lose.”

“If you have been following West Indies T20 cricket, the guys are slowly improving,” Powell said. We didn’t field particularly well today. We could have saved another 15 runs and that was our downfall and the poor area,”
