The recent rise of Football in India is a thing hidden from none. The National Team surging up the rankings highlights the same. The introduction of ISL and its recognition by AFC recently are some off the field achievements. India also hosts the U-17 World Cup later this year. Football Pundits consider it as the dawn of Indian Football.
THE BID FOR THE U-20 WORLD CUP
With less than 100 days remaining in the U-17 tournament. The AIFF is said to have made an official bid for the U-20 event to be held in 2019. This has brought new cheer to the Indian Football fans. The AIFF president himself confirmed the same by a tweet. He considers it as a step in the right direction for putting the game deep into the heart of every Indian.

THE EVENTS HOSTED IN THE PAST
The AIFF has already proved its mettle of hosting a multi-nation tournament. Last year Goa was host to the AFC Asia U-16 Cup and the BRICS U-16 Tournament. Both the events were successful and received warm reactions everywhere.
The FIFA U-17 tournament director Javier Ceppi was amazed at the preparedness of the host cities. What excited more was the overwhelming crowd response.
WOULD INDIA BE SECOND TIME LUCKY?
The International football body FIFA has supported the growth of Football in India. Helping it hosting the first ever FIFA tournament, what would also be India’s debut to a FIFA event. They have also supported the government initiative, Mission XI Million.
But what remains to be seen is whether FIFA agrees yet another Asian Nation host the event in continuation, as South Korea paid host to the tournament this year where England emerged the Champions.
