IND vs ENG: India’s Test squad for the lone Test match against England has been confirmed by the BCCI. The match will be hosted in Birmingham from July 1. Rohit Sharma will lead the team against the Three Lions. Furthermore, team selectors have chosen a 6-man pace attack among the bowlers.
Chetwahwar Pujara has rejoined the Indian squad after a brief absence. Nevertheless, Pujara was rewarded for his great performances in the County Championship. The 34-year-old batter was on fire, scoring numerous centuries and looking sharp. Meanwhile, Mayank Agarwal and the injured Ajinkya Rahane have been replaced by Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer.
Unsurprisingly, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are the two specialist spinners in the squad. After being ruled out of IPL 2022, Jadeja is currently recovering from an injury. Nonetheless, it will be intriguing to see whether he manages to deliver consistent performances after coming back.
Despite the BCCI’s announcement of a 17-member roster for the solitary Test, it does seem a bit controversial. There are debates concerning a few players who fans might think don’t deserve a call-up. In this article, we look at three Indian players who didn’t deserve to be on the Indian Test team.

With such a strong bowling attack, it will be intriguing to see if Shardul Thakur gets a chance to play. Before the series was postponed, he took seven wickets in the Test series and scored 117 runs in two matches.
Speaking of the IPL, Shardul had quite a sub-par time, with both the bat and ball. He has bagged 15 wickets in 14 matches this season. Nevertheless, he did score 120 runs with a good strike rate of 137.93. However, the veteran pacer failed to preserve runs and bowled at a poor economy rate of 9.79. Such figures are quite impressive for someone as experienced as Shardul.

The Indian bowler has had decent performances in the IPL season this time around. He has bagged 15 wickets for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2022 league phase thus far.
Krishna, on the other hand, might not play in the Test match. This is due to India’s well-established pace attack. Nevertheless, the 26-year-old might have the chance to cement himself as a starter in the future.
Iyer took the place of the injured Ajinkya Rahane in the squad announced for the Test series. KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma are the most likely openers. With Pujara batting at three and Virat Kohli at four, the rest of the order is nearly inevitable. Furthermore, Hanuma Vihari and Shubman Gill are both eligible for the number five position in the squad.
The two players are flexible and can bat at any position. Taking all factors into account, Iyer may not receive any game time. He made his Test debut against New Zealand earlier this year and scored a century.
