Major League Soccer side Inter Miami are very confident of signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Rising from the famous La Masia, Lionel Messi spent the majority of his career playing for Catalan giants Barcelona.
The Argentine forward established himself as one of the greatest ever players to grace the game of football while wearing the Blaugrana shirt. He won everything possible for Barcelona and took them to the pinnacle of the football world. Messi’s love for Barcelona was unparalleled. So it was often thought that the Argentine superstar will only retire in a Blaugrana shirt.
Things however panned out differently. Despite Barcelona’s immense success on the field, they were hugely mismanaged for a big part of the last decade. This caused financial turmoil at the club. As a result, Barcelona failed to register Lionel Messi’s contract. Messi left Barcelona as a free agent.
Inter Miami Want to Sign Lionel Messi

After joining Paris Saint-Germain at the start of the last season, Lionel Messi had a very tough beginning. The Argentine forward could net only six goals in the Ligue 1 which can be termed as poor from the standards he has set for himself. Things got worse as Messi suffered multiple injuries and also was affected by COVID-19.
This time around, the Argentine forward got a brilliant start. Lionel Messi has already scored twelve goals for PSG so far. On top of that, he has provided thirteen assists in all competitions. The Argentine forward is currently one of the most in-form players in the world.
His contract with Paris Saint-Germain however is going to expire at the end of this season. So if PSG fails to renegotiate a new extension deal, the Argentine will leave Parc des Princes as a free agent.
Now according to a report from reputed journalist David Ornstein, MLS side Inter Miami are looking to sign the forward in the next season.
In a recent Twitter post, Ornstein said, “Inter Miami increasingly confident of signing Lionel Messi. Not fully agreed but #InterMiamiCF now expect 35yo to join & hope it gets done in coming months.”
The journalist further claimed that PSG are currently looking to extend Lionel Messi’s stay at the club. Messi’s previous team FC Barcelona will also try to rope in the forward.
Messi however is currently concentrated on the upcoming Qatar World Cup 2022. The PSG forward will lead Argentina in the upcoming World Cup. This going to be Messi’s final appearance at the perennial event. The forward now wants to win the only trophy that has eluded him so far.
After the World Cup Messi will take a decision about his future.
