Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni might well be at the fag end of his career but he continues to remain one of the fittest cricketers in the world when it comes to running between the wickets. The 37 year old once showed why age is just a number in the match between the Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Sunday when four fielders coming together failed to stop him from completing a second run.
It all happened during the 16th over of the match when legspinner Yuzuvendra Chahal was bowling to MS Dhoni. Dhoni nudged the ball down the leg side into the vacant midwicket region and was quickly out of his blocks looking from the second run. Both the bowler and the keeper sprinted towards the ball as soon as he had hit it and two more fielders came running in from the deep to stop the veteran from coming back for the second run.
Dhoni however kept on running unfazed by the four fielders closing in on the ball and was comfortably in his crease by the time the throw came from the deep. Dhoni knew that the second run was on right from the moment he had hit it and trusted his abilities to complete the run despite being put under pressure by the fielding side. It was yet another instance of his extraordinary fitness levels dictating terms, allowing him steal the extra run comfortably under pressure from the opposition fielders.
