Since the start of IPL, the valuation of each team was around 4OO million on average. But it will not grow exponentially after the bid 5000 and 7000 crores for two new teams from Ahmedabad and Lucknow respectively.

The two new teams will also be given the right to buy players before the auction. The existing 8 teams are allowed to retain 4 players with a maximum of three Indian and one overseas or two Indians and overseason each.

The official word on the number of players that each of the new teams will allow buying before the mega auction is yet to be announced. These numbers have just come from various reports.

1) Steve Smith

Steve Smith is one of the best cricketers in the world. He is appreciated by fans and critics all over the world. His captaincy record in the IPL is also fair enough, 59.52% winning percentage as IPL captain.

MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma are the only captains who have a better percentage than him, which speaks volumes about his captaincy quality. This is one of the reasons why the Lucknow team will look to sign him as captain. Steve Smith took Rising Pune Supergiant to the final of the IPL season and Sanjiv Goenka, the owner of the Lucknow team was also the owner of RPSG back then.

2) David Warner

David has been of the finest IPL players. He has made a very quick impact since joining Sunrisers Hyderabad and also lead them to the IPL trophy 2016. He leads SRH from 2015 to 2021 as captain. In IPL 2021, he was removed as captain mid-season and also removed from the squad. This means he will be available in this year’s Mega Auction. His win percentage as an IPL captain is 52.17.

3) Suresh Raina

Mr. IPL needs no introduction, he has been with Chennai Super Kings from the start of the IPL. But in the past two seasons, his form has dipped a lot. He is even benched in a lot of matches. Considering only four players can be retained, he will surely be available in the auction

Suresh Raina can be signed by the Lucknow team as he is from Uttar Pradesh and can add value to the new team joining IPL from next season. He also captained the Gujarat team in 2016 and CSK a few times in IPL.

4) Shikhar Dhawan

Our next pick is from Delhi Capitals. Shikhar Dhawan has been an outstanding batsman for DC and has hugely helped them for last season’s great performance in IPL. Although he has not been captain for any IPL team since 2014 but he can do it for a new team in IPL. Shikhar will not be retention list due to players like Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Prithvi Shaw, Hetymer, Stoinis, Rabada, and Nortje younger than him and are more likely to be retained by DC.

5) Eoin Morgan

England and KKR captain has been known for his tactical masters in t20 format. He is a great batsman too but has lost touch in last year. He has hardly got the opportunity at England to bat in past one year and it was quite visible in IPL 2021. His numbers as a batsman were very questionable this season.

But he took KKR to play-offs even after the slow start of IPL 2021 in India. His team, KKR, went to the final of IPL 2O21 against CSK this season. They performed exceptionally well in playoff matches against Royal Challengers and Delhi Capitals. But they lacked it on the final stage of IPL as CSK won the match comfortably and became the Four-time champion of IPL.
