BETADDA

IPL 2022: Rashid Khan is one of the hottest free agents in IPL currently. He played a pivotal role for Sunrisers Hyderabad since he joined the team back in 2017. SRH didn’t retain him after both the parties couldn’t come to a term for the retention price.

Rashid has played across the globe in almost all the T20 Leagues. Currently, he is playing for Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League. On January 12, Rashid picked six wickets for 17 runs against Brisbane Heat and helped his team win the match by 71 runs.

His bowling figure is the third-best in BBL’s history. Rashid has picked 20 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 13.95 and is the leading wicket-taker in the 2021-22 season of the tournament. He has been a part of the BBL since 2017 and has picked 92 wickets in 61 matches at an average of 16.69, an economy of 6.44, and a strike rate of 15.5.

In IPL, Rashid has picked 93 wickets in 76 matches at an average of 20.55, an economy of 6.33, and a strike rate of 19.4. He is yet to take a fifer in the tournament.

Rashid has played in 56 T20Is for Afghanistan and has picked 103 wickets at an average of 12.73, an economy of 6.20, and a strike rate of 12.3.

Afghanistan played in the T20 World Cup 2021 where the team won two out of the five group stage games. Rashid was the leading wicket-taker for his country. He took eight wickets at an average of 14, an economy of 6.1, and a strike rate of 13.7.

The BCCI has asked the two news teams, Lucknow and Ahmedabad to submit their draft pick by January 22. BCCI has allowed both teams to pick a maximum of three players before the IPL 2022 auction takes place. The board has also confirmed that the mega auction will take place on February 12 and 13 in Bangalore.

Both the new franchises are interested to buy Rashid before the IPL auction starts. Now, it is up to the Afghan spinner to decide which team he would like to join.

Rashid joined the SRH franchise for a salary of INR four crores which increased to INR nine crores in 2018 and remained the same until last season. It was reported that Rashid was offered a second place in the retained players list after Kane Williamson. But, he asked the franchise to give him the first spot and hence, decided to leave the SRH franchise.

Rashid would be looking for the highest slab in whichever team he joins. The way he has played in T20 cricket, he surely deserves to be in that slab.

The two new teams can spend INR 33 crores on three players. The first player will get INR 15 crores and the rest two will get 11 crores and seven crores respectively. According to reports, SRH offered Rashid a contract worth INR 12 crores.

The two new teams will have to give Rashid the first spot in order to grab him. If that happens, they will need to find a captain in the mega auction as the captain of a team would get the first spot. The other option is the team can pick Rashid as captain. But it is unlikely to happen as both the teams have already decided the names of their captains.
