IPL 2022 Auction: The BCCI has confirmed that the mega auction will take place on February 12 and 13. The ten teams will line up to pick the complete squad that will play in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.
Before the mega auction takes place, the two new teams are going to pick three players each and submit the same to BCCI by January 22. The Ahmedabad and Lucknow franchise are the two new teams that will feature in the upcoming edition of the league.
BCCI has further notified that the league will now be called Tata IPL. Vivo, which was the title sponsor of the tournament has backed out. The rights have been transferred to Tata.
A total of three teams have retained wicketkeepers and the rest seven will look for a wicketkeeper in the upcoming auction. This list contains the name of seven other wicketkeepers from domestic cricket along with the three retained players. These ten players are going to play an important role in the upcoming edition of the IPL.

1. MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni is the first name on this list who has been retained by Chennai Super Kings. Dhoni will be captaining the team in the upcoming edition and this might be the last time that we see him in the tournament.
Dhoni has made 4746 runs in 220 IPL matches at an average of 39.55 and a strike rate of 135.83. He holds the record for the most dismissals by a wicketkeeper in IPL’s history with 122 catches and 39 stumping.

2. Rishabh Pant
Delhi Capitals has retained Rishabh Pant for INR 16 crores. He will be the captain of the Capitals in the 15th edition of the league. Pant has been playing for Delhi since 2016 and was appointed the captain during the last season.
Pant has made 2498 runs in IPL at an average of 35.18 and a strike rate of 147.46.
3. Sanju Samson
Sanju Samson is another wicketkeeper who has been retained and will be captaining his side Rajasthan Royals. Samson became a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise in 2012 but didn’t get a game that season. He was drafted in the Royals side in 2013 and was a part until the team was banned from IPL. Samson went on to play for Delhi Daredevils in 2016 and represented the franchise for two seasons. In 2018, Samson returned to the Royals side and was appointed the captain in the last season.
Samson has made 3068 runs in 121 IPL matches at an average of 29.21 and a strike rate of 134.2.
4. KL Rahul
KL Rahul was the captain of the Punjab Kings last season and he made 626 runs in 13 matches at an average of 62.6 and a strike rate of 138.8.
It is reported that Rahul will join Lucknow in the upcoming season. He has made 3273 runs in 94 matches at an average of 47.43 and a strike rate of 136.37.
5. Ishan Kishan
Ishan Kishan was a part of the Mumbai Indians franchise last season and will now find himself in the auction pool. Kishan became a part of the Mumbai team in 2018. He was picked by the franchise for INR 6.2 crores from his base price of 40 lakh.
Kishan has played 61 IPL matches and has made 1452 runs at an average of 28.47 and a strike rate of 136.33.
6. Dinesh Karthik
Dinesh Karthik has been a part of six franchises in the IPL and would be looking for another contract in the upcoming auction. Karthik made 376 runs in eight matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy which signifies that he can be an asset for whichever team he ends up in.
Karthik has been a part of the IPL since 2008. He has made 4046 runs in 213 matches at an average of 25.77 and a strike rate of 129.72.
7. KS Bharat
KS Bharat is one of the best wicketkeepers in domestic cricket. He hit a last ball six against Delhi Capitals while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2021 and became a household name. Bharat replaced Wriddhiman Saha who sustained an injury during the Test match against New Zealand last year and played an important role.
Bharat made his IPL last season and made 191 runs in eight matches at an average of 38.2 and a strike rate of 122.43. His decent performance for sure helps him get a contract in the IPL 2021 auction.
8. Sheldon Jackson
Sheldon Jackson has been on the fringes of the selection for the national team for a long time despite him performing well in domestic competitions. He has made 5634 runs in 76 matches in first-class cricket at an average of 49.42.
Jackson was a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise last season. He didn’t get a chance to showcase his skills. He has a strike rate of 120.88 in T20 cricket.
9. Narayan Jagadeesan
Narayan Jagadeesan is a 26-years-old wicketkeeper from Chennai who opens the innings. He was drafted in the Chennai Super Kings franchise in 2020 for his base price of INR 20 lakh.
Jagadeesan was the leading run-scorer in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021. He is someone who can provide a fiery start to a team.
10. Prabhsimran Singh
Prabhsimran Singh became an overnight sensation in 2019. Punjab Kings picked him for INR 4.8 crores in IPL 2019 auction. But, he failed to feature in a game. PBKS released him before the IPL 2020 auction only to pick him back for INR 55 lakh.
Singh has played in 30 T20s and has made 822 runs at an average of 34.25 and a strike rate of 136.77.
